About Conder House
Having a member of our family with a severe disability, we understand the importance of quality services to assist with daily living and quality of life. Furthermore, we appreciate the desire to maintain a non-clinical feel in the family home.
Conder House Laundry and Linen Service is a family focussed hospital grade barrier laundry and linen service which supports individuals in the family home.
Conder House Laundry & Linen Service Pty Ltd was envisioned by Cathy Costa, as she couldn’t find a linen service to meet her son’s requirements. Her domestic machine couldn’t cope with the volume of washing, nor the bulky waterproof bed pads. Large linen companies wouldn’t take an individual client, and she didn’t want the linen in her home to look like a hospital.
Additionally, the establishment of this company provides a part-time employment opportunity for her son John, whom has severe Autism and intellectual delay.
Cathy and her sons are excited about this service and look forward to supporting clients throughout the Canberra Region.

Cathy Costa is a hard worker. In addition to her job in the public service and as a volunteer in a leading youth development program, Cathy is a mum to three sons – one of whom suffers from severe autism. John, now in his early twenties, still requires full time support to get through the day.
Owner Cathy came to Richard Jay with an idea to start a laundry and linen service catering to families and carers of people with disabilities. Having a disabled son herself, Cathy identified a need for families to have a more personalised service, and we have been lucky enough to support her in her vision.
Cathy strongly believes in giving back to her community. She volunteers with a leading youth development program and manages Conder House, which she established to enable individuals to access hospital grade linen & laundry services whilst remaining in the family home.
As Cathy’s son John was a recipient of the Canberra Special Children’s Christmas Party many years ago, Conder House gave back to the new generation of special families by donating a laundry service to each family who attended the 2017 party.
John is Cathy’s eldest son. He has severe autism, intellectual delay and is non-verbal. As John loves sitting up high in a van driving around, we are working with him to build his resilience so that he can complete the deliveries with support from his carers and/or other staff members.
If you see John, say G’Day. He understands you, just don’t expect a response from him.
Jarrod is Cathy’s middle son. He regularly provides support to John and is often doing the pick ups and drop offs to Conder House customers.
He also hates photos!
